Contract: Cover for the time period of as of now to 31 July 2027

Working Hours: Part-time (30 - 35 h/week)

Our After School Programme (Hort) provides students with opportunities beyond the regular school day. Educators in Hort focus on children’s social, behavioural, physical and emotional learning during open Hort hours, in the classrooms, and during school holidays. We place value on the interaction between the child and the adult within our learning environments to promote independence, confidence and initiative-taking in children. The conceptual background of our work is informed by the International Primary Curriculum and Saxony’s Learning Curriculum (Bildungsplan) for children.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Support and empower each child as an individual – providing a safe, stimulating and caring environment during after-school care and break times.
  • Create an inspiring learning environment where children can stay curious, develop their own ideas and learn with joy.
  • Develop, design and implement projects and programmes together with the team – and reflect on their impact to continuously improve them.
  • Support children in their personal and social development – through positive relationships, dialogue, guidance and encouragement to think and act independently.
  • Observe and document learning processes with care – both in structured activities and through free play and independent learning.
  • Work closely with class teachers to provide individual support and help children thrive in their learning.
  • Make children’s development and learning progress visible and use these insights to identify appropriate next steps in their learning and development.
  • Continuously develop the quality of our educational practice as a team – to provide the best possible care, learning and support for children at Leipzig International School.
  • Support children on their journey towards greater independence and help them develop important everyday life skills.
  • Contribute actively to the team – through regular planning and team meetings as well as professional development and training opportunities.
  • Give children a voice and opportunities to participate – taking their ideas, perspectives and needs seriously and creating space for them to actively shape their environment.

Your profile

  • Bachelor or Master level degree in related subject areas: Early Childhood Education, Child Care, Social Work or Social Pedagogy or degree as State Approved Educator or Childhood Pedagogue according to the qualification ordinance of the state of Saxony
  • Fluency in written and verbal English or German, with basic understanding in the other
  • Excellent knowledge of child development and up-to-date education methods 
  • Strong collaboration and team work skills
  • Enthusiasm and personal commitment to your job
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • International and growth mindsets
  • Experience abroad is a plus
